Από τότε που εκδόθηκε η γαλλική έκδοση αυτού του βιβλίου τον Οκτώβριο του 1991, η κατάσταση άλλαξε σημαντικά ως αποτέλεσμα της Ειρηνευτικής Διάσκεψης της Μαδρίτης για τη Μέση Ανατολή. Ακολούθησε η Διακήρυξη Αρχών της Ουάσιγκτον τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1993 και η Συμφωνία Αμοιβαίας Αναγνώρισης μεταξύ Ισραήλ και ΟΑΠ (PLO). Η ειρηνευτική συνθήκη του Νοεμβρίου 1994 μεταξύ Ισραήλ και Ιορδανίας —και οι θετικές σχέσεις με το Μαρόκο, την Τυνησία και τα αραβικά κράτη του Κόλπου— βελτίωσαν τις προοπτικές ειρήνης, όπως και η συμφωνία Ισραήλ-ΟΑΠ τον Οκτώβριο του 1995.
